PROBLEM

It is tough to create your own business.  Micro-enterprises make up the large majority of companies in Spain. The unemployment rate of persons with disability in Spain is 25% (ODISMET). Acceleration programmes are not designed for micro-enterprises led by persons with a disability. These entrepreneurs need support if they are to survive and flourish.

Fundación Prevent is focused on entrepreneurship and self-employment of persons with disabilities. More than 147 entrepreneurs have participated their 6 months training programme and more than 52 companies have been created.

Fundación Prevent’s challenge was to provide continued support to entrepreneurs in order to grow their businesses.

APPROACH

Fakawee collaborated with Fundación Prevent in:

• Workshops and interviews in order to understand the underlying needs of the entrepreneurs and identify market opportunities.
• Ideation workshops to create the Accelerator Programme.
• Creation and implementation of the pilot project including content development and project management.
• Ongoing evaluation of the programme with +30 interviews.

OUTCOME

The Powernauts Accelerator Programme which  supports entrepreneurs with disability in the development of their business idea, as well as their personal and interpersonal skills during 9 months.

• + 500 hours of experts in the fields of business, entrepreneurship, coaching and networking.
• +30 experts and collaborators participated in the programme.
• +100.000 euros investment.
