DESIGN THINKING SPRINT

How can we accelerate innovation in our organisations?

PROBLEM

Fusion Point is a collaboration between ESADE Business School, Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) and the Universitat
Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC) that started in 2014.

It brings together the fields of business and management, technology and engineering, and design. These schools
collaborate with on CERN’s Challenge-Based Innovation (CBI) programme.

40 students work in multidisciplinary teams (5-6 people) to solve a tough social challenge during 3 months.

APPROACH

Fakawee collaborated with the team to create a Innovation Sprint where teams worked during 4 days to understand a
problem and to provide a solution.
8 Multidisciplinary teams participated in presential workshops. Each team worked on solving one of the following
challenges:

  • Urban mobility
  • Education and learning
  • Remote work
  • Information sharing

OUTCOME

After going through the different steps in the design thinking process, from understanding the user to creating
and validating the solution, each team presented a solution.

Following this innovation sprint the participants continued working on their projects.
